Ethical Oversight

The International Journal of Advanced Research in Humanities and Law (IJREL) is committed to maintaining high standards of ethical conduct in research and scholarly publishing. The journal expects authors, reviewers, and editors to comply with applicable ethical principles, institutional requirements, and relevant Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

Ethical oversight applies to research involving human participants, personal or confidential information, vulnerable populations, animals, and other research activities that require ethical review or institutional approval.

Research Ethics Approval

Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary ethical approvals before conducting research where such approval is required by applicable laws, institutional policies, or recognized ethical standards.

For studies requiring approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research Ethics Committee (REC), or equivalent body, authors must provide the name of the approving institution and the relevant approval or reference number in the manuscript, where applicable.

The editorial office may request evidence of ethical approval at any stage of the editorial or publication process.

Research Involving Human Participants

For research involving human participants, authors must ensure that the study has been conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards and regulations.

Where informed consent is required, authors must explain in the manuscript how consent was obtained from participants.

Participants should be informed about the purpose of the research, their participation, and the use of their data, as appropriate to the nature of the study.

Privacy and Confidentiality

IJREL respects the privacy and confidentiality of research participants.

Authors must not disclose personally identifiable information unless such disclosure is essential for legitimate scholarly purposes and appropriate informed consent for publication has been obtained.

Where identifiable information is necessary, written consent for publication should be obtained from the participant or, where appropriate, from a parent or legal guardian.

Authors should take reasonable measures to protect participant anonymity and confidential information. Identifying details that are not necessary for the scholarly purpose of the article should be removed.

Research data must not be altered, fabricated, falsified, or manipulated in a manner that misrepresents the research findings.

Vulnerable Populations

Research involving vulnerable individuals or groups requires particular attention to informed consent, privacy, confidentiality, safety, and protection from potential harm.

Authors should demonstrate that appropriate safeguards were implemented and that the research was conducted in accordance with relevant ethical and institutional requirements.

Research Involving Animals

Where a manuscript reports research involving animals, authors must confirm that the research complied with applicable institutional, national, and international standards for the ethical treatment and welfare of animals.

Where ethical approval is required, details of the approving institution and approval should be provided in the manuscript.

Use of Confidential and Sensitive Data

Authors must ensure that confidential, personal, or sensitive information is handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable legal, institutional, and ethical requirements.

Any restrictions concerning access to research data should be clearly stated where relevant.

Ethical Conduct in Publication and Research

Authors must provide accurate and truthful information about their research. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, manipulation of data, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are not acceptable.

The journal may investigate ethical concerns in accordance with its publication ethics policies and applicable COPE principles.

Ethical Approval and Documentation

Authors should retain appropriate documentation relating to ethical approval and informed consent throughout the research and publication process.

The editorial office may request additional information, documentation, or clarification regarding ethical approval, informed consent, participant protection, data handling, or other ethical matters.

Failure to provide satisfactory evidence of required ethical compliance may result in the manuscript being rejected or, where appropriate, further editorial action being taken after publication.
