Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship and Contributorship
The International Journal of Advanced Research in Humanities and Law (IJREL) recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility and requires all listed authors to have made a meaningful contribution to the research and manuscript.
Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, or development of the research and manuscript. All authors must take responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their contribution to the work.
Criteria for Authorship
To qualify for authorship, an individual should have made a substantial contribution to one or more of the following:
-
Conception or design of the research.
-
Acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data or materials.
-
Development of the theoretical or methodological framework.
-
Drafting the manuscript or making substantive intellectual revisions.
-
Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript.
-
Accepting responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the work and responding appropriately to questions concerning any part of the research.
Individuals who provide only administrative support, general supervision, funding, technical assistance, proofreading, language editing, or other limited services should not normally be listed as authors unless they also meet the applicable authorship criteria.
Author Responsibilities
All listed authors must:
-
Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
-
Agree to be accountable for their contributions to the work.
-
Ensure that their contributions are accurately represented.
-
Disclose relevant conflicts of interest.
-
Ensure that appropriate sources and contributions from others are properly acknowledged.
-
Cooperate with the editorial office if questions concerning authorship or the integrity of the work arise.
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the journal and ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript and agree with its submission to IJREL.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the journal during the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.
The corresponding author should ensure that:
-
All eligible contributors are appropriately listed as authors.
-
All listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
-
The order of authors has been agreed upon by all authors.
-
Any changes to authorship are communicated to the editorial office.
-
All required declarations and supporting information are provided.
Author Order
The order in which authors are listed should be agreed upon by all authors before submission.
IJREL does not normally determine the order of authors. Any disagreement regarding author order should be resolved among the authors or, where necessary, through their affiliated institution.
Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be justified and submitted to the editorial office by the corresponding author.
All authors, including any author being added or removed, must provide written agreement to the proposed change.
Changes in authorship after acceptance will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and may require additional documentation or editorial review.
Authorship changes will not be accepted solely to improve the likelihood of publication.
Guest, Gift, and Ghost Authorship
IJREL does not permit:
-
Guest authorship: listing individuals as authors who have not made a sufficient contribution to the work.
-
Gift authorship: granting authorship as a favor or because of seniority, position, or professional relationship.
-
Ghost authorship: omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions that qualify them for authorship.
All individuals who meet the journal's authorship criteria should be appropriately recognized.
Contributorship
Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to describe the specific contributions made by each contributor.
A contributorship statement may include roles such as:
-
Conceptualization
-
Methodology
-
Investigation
-
Data curation
-
Formal analysis
-
Writing – original draft
-
Writing – review and editing
-
Supervision
-
Project administration
-
Resources
Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged separately, with their permission.
Acknowledgements
Individuals or organizations that provided assistance but do not meet the criteria for authorship may be acknowledged in the manuscript.
Authors should obtain permission from individuals before including their names in the acknowledgements section.
Authorship Disputes
IJREL does not adjudicate disputes regarding authorship ownership or contribution between authors. Where a dispute arises, the journal may request that the authors resolve the matter through their affiliated institution or another appropriate independent authority.
The editorial process may be suspended until a satisfactory resolution is reached where an authorship dispute could affect the integrity of the manuscript or publication record.
Ethical Standards
IJREL considers accurate attribution of authorship and contributions an essential component of responsible scholarly publishing.
The journal follows relevant principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing authorship and contributorship issues.
Questions regarding authorship or contributorship should be directed to the editorial office:
