Data and Reproducibility

The International Journal of Advanced Research in Humanities and Law (IJREL) supports responsible research data practices and encourages authors to promote transparency and reproducibility in scholarly research, where appropriate.

Data Sharing

Authors are encouraged to make the data underlying their research available as openly as possible, where ethically, legally, and practically appropriate.

Where research data can be shared without compromising participant privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or legal and ethical requirements, authors are encouraged to deposit the data in an appropriate trusted repository.

At a minimum, authors should provide sufficient information, materials, methods, and supporting evidence to allow readers and other researchers to understand and, where reasonably possible, reproduce the reported research.

Data sharing is not mandatory for all manuscripts submitted to IJREL. The requirements may vary depending on the nature and methodology of the research.

Participant Privacy and Confidentiality

Authors must not make research data publicly available if doing so would compromise the privacy, confidentiality, safety, or rights of research participants.

Where data contain personal, confidential, or sensitive information, authors should ensure that appropriate anonymization, consent, and data-protection measures are in place before sharing.

Ethical and legal requirements take precedence over data-sharing expectations.

Access to Research Data

IJREL reserves the right to request reasonable access to relevant underlying research data, materials, or supporting documentation when necessary to assess the validity or reproducibility of findings.

Authors should be prepared to provide such information to the editorial office where it is reasonably available and can be shared in accordance with applicable ethical, legal, confidentiality, and institutional requirements.

Data Availability Statement

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript.

Examples include:

  • Data available: The data supporting the findings of this study are available in [repository name] at [persistent identifier].

  • Data available upon request: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

  • Data restrictions: The data are not publicly available because they contain confidential or sensitive information.

  • No data: This study did not generate or analyze research data.

Authors should select the statement that accurately reflects the circumstances of their research.

Citation of Research Data

Authors are encouraged to cite publicly available datasets and other research data that directly support their work.

Where a dataset has a persistent identifier, such as a DOI, authors should include the identifier in the data citation whenever possible.

Proper citation of research data supports transparency, recognition of data creators, and the responsible reuse of scholarly resources.

Open Licensing and Reuse

Where appropriate and legally permissible, authors are encouraged to make research data available under an open license that allows responsible reuse.

Any restrictions on access, reuse, or redistribution should be clearly stated.

Research Transparency

Authors are encouraged to provide sufficient methodological information, supporting materials, and other relevant documentation to facilitate the evaluation and potential reproduction of their research.

IJREL recognizes that reproducibility requirements may differ across disciplines and research methodologies. Authors should therefore follow practices appropriate to the nature of their research.

Ethical Standards

IJREL follows relevant principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning research data, transparency, and publication ethics.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that data sharing and research reporting comply with applicable ethical, legal, institutional, and privacy requirements.
